The winning combinations which are used to win in games are made up of patterns. When the squares which make the patterns get marked you are eligible to claim a bingo. These bingo patterns can be based on alphabets, numbers, lines and other forms which can be converted into valid designs to cover the squares in the 5 x 5 square grid of the bingo card.

These patterns can be of three types, i.e. Static or Standard, Crazy and Wild. The Static or Standard bingo patterns cannot be shifted or moved on the bingo card with the progression of the game. A bingo can be claimed only when all the squares of the pattern on the card are marked by the player.

The patterns are called Crazy patterns when it rotates by 90, 180 or 270 degrees from its original position as the game progresses. The bingo can be won if you are able to mark the squares which form the pattern whether it is formed sidewise or upside down. For example, if the letter Crazy T is the winning pattern then you can claim a bingo if the squares marked on your card form an upside T or a letter T fallen on its side.

The Wild bingo patterns are those patterns which remain the same and do not rotate as they move around the bingo card while the game is on. Let us take the example of a 6-pack pattern which has two columns and three rows packed together. This pattern is called a Wild 6-pack when it retains its upright position but moves around the bingo card as the game progresses. This means that you can claim a bingo as soon as you have all the squares comprising an upright 6-pack marked anywhere on your card.

The basic patterns are the straight lines, the diagonals and the four corners which are all used in the game of bingo. Alphabets like A, B, C, E, F, L, M, N, O, P, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y and Z can easily be used to form corresponding patterns. Patterns looking like the numbers 4, 8 and 13 are also used in the game of bingo. The patterns formed by these alphabets or numbers look almost exactly like the original forms.

The form of animals is also used to make patterns in bingo. Some of the animals whose forms are used to make these patterns are a turtle, a dog, a deer, a spider, a butterfly, a bear, a dragon fly, a fish or a giraffe. Even parts of an animal have been used to form these patterns like the chicken foot or the head of a fox.

The normal bingo patterns which are used by the online bingo sites in their games have several names and appearances and are formed from the shape of objects. The simple ones are called a stamp, double-stamps, triple stamps, a clover leaf, a railroad track, a telephone pole, a ladder, a layer cake, a windmill, a small egg, a tilde or a chess-board. There are other easy to understand patters like a six-pack, an eight-pack, a nine-pack, a plus sign, a lightning bolt, a check sign, a chevron, a hockey stick, an inside diamond, a flower, an outside diamond, an inside picture frame, an outside picture frame or inside four corners.

Some patterns used in the game of bingo are a bit complicated like an airplane, a cent, a dollar, a bow-tie, a question mark, a smiley, an anchor, a hangman and many others.
